With over 13 years experience as a licensed Realtor and just over 3 years as a broker, I know real estate, and I know the Austin, Texas market very well. I am more than an experienced Realtor, I am a breast cancer survivor. Although a resident of Austin since 1978, I have sold real estate since 2002, and I have experienced some hardships along the way. I have survived breast cancer, and my husband of six years and business partner, at the time, left me just two weeks after my diagnosis. I had to fight, and I learned first-hand how important it is to have a home. The whole process renewed my belief that I was put on this earth to help people find their home.
I lived with addiction and abusive situations in my marriage, and I learned that strength comes from the inside and not the outside. I was given the gift of reuniting with my oldest step daughter when she was battling her own addiction, 17 and pregnant. I was reunited with all of my stepchildren and their mother. I have remained loyal to my stepchildren and have cared for them as though they are my own. My youngest stepdaughter was in a serious car accident and was not supposed to survive, which the doctors described as an arbitrary term. Well, she survived just like I did, and she and her mother and siblings and I are very close and their mother Misti is working to become my new business partner.
I now view my career as a service in helping people more than an income or a paycheck. I want to use my skills to house people, keep people in their current homes or upgrade to better living, depending on each person/family’s individual needs. I now try to spend at least 10% of my income, and usually more, in helping other people overcome their short term financial issues, sometimes causing displacement, that I know can be truly devastating.
My next goal is to help the homeless become sheltered. With GOD’s grace and my continued success, we will shelter the homeless. Maybe not all, but I will do what I can with what I have. I truly believe GOD has provided me success as a conduit to help others. Whether it is a first home, upgrading to a larger home with a growing family, or a home to get out of the rain and cold when there is no place to go. So far 2014 has been my most successful year , and it is only May.
