5K Chili Challenge

Vision – Our vision is for participants to leave the 5K with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in their involvement, and encouragement to continue more wellness activities.

We created this event in 2006 as a family and friend get together. Our hope was having an event that promoted a positive atmosphere along with people feeling a sense of accomplishment afterwards. We received the inspiration after competing and volunteering in Finger Lakes Running Club races. We wanted to share with people how fun it is to get out there and walk, run and cheer people on! In addition, we put on this event because one of our challenges is overcoming our obesity. We also know it is a lifelong challenge, and we are not alone.

In 2012 Cayuga Medical Center checked out the event, and they then offered to be a major sponsor in 2013 that would allow the race to be open to the public. They have done this again in 2014! So please join us in making a steps to a healthier life.

So..why do you serve chili?

First, because it tastes GREAT! Second, what is better than a warm bowl of chili on a cold day? Third, sharing a meal creates a sense of community.
