After the founder of this organization, Rachel, lost her brother to a heroin overdose in April 2016, she decided to channel her anger, hurt, and sadness into helping those that are currently battling addiction. She donates her time by raising awareness of the epidemic in our country and works to reduce the stigma of addiction.
Rachel met two incredible men who shared their story with her while she was driving them to a detox facility. She was heartbroken upon hearing their story and to learn their only possessions were the worn clothes on their backs. Rachel then decided to 'adopt' these two men and provided them with clothing and other necessities they previously lacked.
After discussing the situation with many others in the addiction field, Rachel became appalled at how many other people are in a similar situation to these two men she met. So many are fighting for their lives alone without any support system outside of the treatment facility. Rachel believes that by showing compassion towards individuals in recovery, they will have a much better chance of success at staying clean; knowing there are people out there (strangers even) who care about them and are fighting there in spirit with them.
While our organization was recently founded, we have great dreams and aspirations for what we can accomplish. We will continue to fight alongside those who need our support until the battle against this epidemic has been won.
