ASTEP is a 2 to 3 year transition and postsecondary education (PSE) program for young adults with intellectual disabilities (ID).

ASTEP is located on the campus of Minot State University (MSU) in collaboration with the satellite Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) campus located at MSU.

The program is coordinated by the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities. Eligible students have the opportunity to achieve their goals in an inclusive and supportive college environment. A plan of study is developed through a person centered planning process including career, academic, social, community and independent living goals.

Eligibility requirements for the program:

- ID as the primary or secondary disability
- Age 18 to 26
- IDEA Eligible or previously IDEA Eligible
- ACT or SAT results (no minimum score)
- Social Graduation (Unsigned Diploma/May be currently on IEP while attending ASTEP) or High School Diploma
- Have practical literacy skills to support interacting with college level material
- Ability to follow University Code of Conduct
- Safety skills in unsupervised settings
- Motivation and interest to attend college and be employed
