Aikido (AI= Harmony KI= Energy DO= The Way) has been referred to as "Dynamic Zen" because of it's meditative and philosophical qualities. It fosters self-awareness that can eventually lead you toward spiritual enlightenment. The essence of all Aikido techniques is spherical motion around a stable energized center, where practitioners learn how to blend with the motion of attacks from one or multiple opponents, redirecting the attacker's energy into a point of non-resistance, controlling aggression without inflicting injury.
