American River Charter School

American River Charter School (ARCS) is a dependent charter school in the Black Oak Mine Unified School District (BOMUSD) consisting of two diverse programs:

~ Our Site-based Program is located in Georgetown and focuses on creating independent thinkers in a positive cooperative school community using hands-on curriculum in multi-age classes. We provide students in grades K-8 with an educational option which focuses on experiential, project- based instruction, an arts-infused curriculum, and a low student-adult ratio. Our goal is for our students to become life long learners.

~ Our K-12 Homeschool Program provides homeschooling families with a variety of educational options. Under the guidance of a supervising teacher, parents are able to chose educational resources to best meet their children's needs, participate in vendor classes, and attend group field trips. Hybrid classes for certain grades are available for specific grades.

Both programs use the California State Standards to guide instruction. We have a parent club called Friends of ARCS to help facilitate parental involvement. They support our social and fundraising events as well as help support our "wish list" in the areas of technology, music and the arts.
