Apostolic Truth Tabernacle

Around 1938, a group of garment workers from Corinth, Mississippi was brought down to Amory, Mississippi to begin operations for the local pants factory, along with locally hired employees. The majority of these workers from Corinth were devout Pentecostals, and Amory had no church of their faith. Mr. Longenecker donated a parcel of land on South 9th Avenue (now Gilmore Drive) adjacent to the new plant for the church. The Longenecker family, along with many others in the community were instrumental in helping to build this church. The building was completed in 1941, and remained an active church until the congregation moved to a new building.

Since that time, the building has alternately housed other church groups as well as being used for storage when no tenant was using the building.
In late November, 2012, around the 71st anniversary of the establishment of the church, the doors at 210 Gilmore Drive opened again to welcome worshipers to the location of the original Pentecostal church in Amory.

The church members are working to restore the building to its original condition as well as making necessary upgrades to modernize, while retaining the building’s historic character. We welcome you to visit us during service times as 10 AM and 5 PM Sundays as well as 7 PM on Wednesday evenings.
