More about Asbury University Center for Adventure Leadership

The Asbury University Center for Adventure Leadership is committed to the goal of leadership development in its participants. Using adventure experiences in outdoor settings as educational tools, Adventure Leadership is the perfect option for groups with professional development, teambuilding, and outdoor recreation needs. In addition to offering a wide variety of programming to our campus community, custom adventure experiences for any group or organization are also be offered by the Center for Adventure Leadership.

The Asbury University Challenge Course has been offering high quality leadership development, teambuilding, and professional adventure education experiences for more than twenty years.

The Asbury University Center for Adventure Leadership offers a pre-orientation wilderness expedition for new Asburians called Archways, specifically designed to develop meaningful relationships among incoming classmates before they hit campus. Past participants are known to rave that Archways was one of their favorite college experiences.

Students can major or minor in Recreation with an Emphasis in Adventure Leadership, a cutting edge new program designed around the principles of outdoor and experiential education.

Students already on campus can get involved in the Asbury Outdoors Club, a student-led organization offering a variety of outdoor recreation and instructional activities to the Asbury community including caving, climbing, canoeing, and backpacking.

We also offer our Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Education programs to the public. We provide guided Outdoor Recreation experiences such as weeklong backpacking or canoeing trips, or single-day climbing trips to the Red River Gorge. While these adventure options also serve educational adventure purposes, the Outdoor Recreation program specifically offers Adventure Education opportunities through its site-based professional development, teambuilding and conference style events. All programs offer custom-designed curriculum with a variety of educational outcomes tailored specifically to the needs of your group. We encourage you to check out our website and ask any questions you may have.
