More about Asbury University Equine Assisted Learning Program

Encouraging learning, by shining HIS light, with horses.

Mission- To assist with the development of skills that can be used in the classroom, family and work place by using horses, chores, learning opportunities and relationships.

Asbury University is one of the first universities to offer a program like this, putting Asbury in a position to be able to teach college students about Equine Assisted Learning Programs.

-Vision: A program that serves many different students from various schools in this area and to become a foundation University for teaching about Equine Assisted Learning.

Values- God, People, Horses.

AUEAL is currently partnering with The Providence School, a local alternative school. Jeannette Teater, a teacher at the Providence School is a Certified Equine Specialist through EAGALA. Regina Spencer, a therapist at The Providence School, is a certified Human Specialist through EAGALA. These ladies had a vision of bringing horses into their school and took off with that vision. Because of their vision AUEAL was able to be formed.
The Providence school offers two equestrian classes, Equine Assisted Guidance and Learning (EAGALA) and Stable Management. Both of these classes come to Asbury's Barn two days a week to participate in barn and equine activities. Through these classes students will learn team work, communication skills, personal management, and vocational skills involving horse farms.

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and ogive glory to your Father who is in heaven."
