How a Gainesville Start-Up Became a Hometown Hot Spot
Going ten years strong with a menu designed to make mouths water and a location that embodies Gainesville's Downtown area, Big Lou's NY Style Pizzeria comes from humble beginnings. As many local start-ups do, Lou's developed into the reputable pizza spot it is today through a patient process. Lou Wynn, or "Big Lou" himself, is originally from South Florida but was no stranger to Gainesville. Graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Health Science, Lou eventually decided to pursue the food industry. He was so inspired to build up his own restaurant (with the help of his supportive wife, Mary) that he was willing to do whatever it took to make it work - and even went as far as selling his car to pay for the original costs. Biking to work for the first few months of business is a whole new level of dedication...
Nearly one decade and thousands of pizzas later, Lou's is constantly growing (currently under rennovation!) while staying true to its warm and welcoming hometown roots.
