Bocado Café, a contemporary American bistro and bakery, opens this May at 1293 Lexington Ave, at the corner of 87th Street. Bocado Café features a 60-seat dining room that will serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner as well as a high- quality on-premises bakery. Owners John Giampilis and Aristoteles Mitsakis, with twenty years of experience in the bakery and food service business in NYC and Europe, have opened Bocado Café to bring the Upper Eastside a bakery and casual restaurant serving fare using continental ingredients and techniques. Bocado Café only uses local organic eggs, organic greens, the freshest meats, fish and produce to craft meals of the highest quality.

Bocado Café has a comfortable, casual interior. The walls are clad with reclaimed antique woods, and antique mirrors, exposed brick, mosaic floors, oxidized metals and custom light fixtures complete the décor. The dining room tables are crafted from rare 150 year old authentic NYC water-tower salvaged redwood. Finishes of antique zinc, brass and steel give an historic luster to the décor. A beautiful steel and glass storefront opens the cafe to the bustle of 87th street. Guests will feel like they have discovered a timeless treasure.

Our beverage selection includes wines by bottle and glass, as well as draft and bottle beers. Bocado Café is proud to serve Intelligentsia specialty coffee and espresso and our trained baristas will delight you with their finest creations. The bakery is on premises and our bakers will produce fresh baked pastries, cakes, muffins, cookies, bagels and more throughout the day. Bocado Café will have a full selection of crusty baguettes and rustic loaves that can be bought whole or sliced for you.
