More about BVP - Burbank Volunteer Program

Burbank RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) was founded in 1973. Burbank RSVP has over 600 active volunteers (age 55+), serving in Burbank and its surrounding communities. Burbank RSVP volunteers serve through a variety of nonprofit and civic organizations, designated as volunteer stations. Volunteer opportunities are available in many areas including: schools, museums, hospices, hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, recreation programs, home delivered meals, and a wide range of other organizations.

Volunteers join a large service network, learning new skills and proving that retirement can be an opportunity to put the skill and experience of a lifetime to work for the benefit of others. Through nonprofit organizations and local public agencies in more than one-fourth of the nations counties, RSVP recruits, screens and places senior volunteers in rewarding part-time opportunities for community service.

Many RSVP Volunteers have lived in their communities for a long time. Because the community has given them so much, they see serving as a way to give something back. RSVP volunteers discover that when they give, they gain a lot too.

RSVP helps individuals stay active and involved. There are no restrictions based on education, income, experience, religious, ethnic or cultural background. Anyone age 55 and over is eligible to be an RSVP volunteer.
In 2016, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program has merged with the Burbank Volunteer Program (BVP). Now, formally known as The Burbank Volunteer Program, there are 744 active volunteers that serve the Burbank Community.
