What is CACFP?

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is administered by the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) which provides reimbursement each month to help pay for the meals and snacks served to children in child care. The reimbursement is made through a state agency to sponsoring agencies who then distribute it to family day care homes. The amount of the reimbursement is based on the income level of the child’s family and the type of meal served (breakfast, lunch, supper, or snack).

What homes are eligible?

Any licensed day care home provider or certified legally licensed exempt provider who had entered into an agreement with a sponsor of family day care homes who has a current contract with the Indiana Department of Education to administer family day care homes is eligible.
