California Chutney

CHUTNEY stemmed from a desire to share healthy food and Indian flavors at a fast pace. We believe in serving food that tastes great and is great for you. A restaurant should be more than just a place to fill up your stomach, it should be a place to nourish your body. We believe in eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Spices and herbs naturally contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are important for your body. One of our goals is to educate people about these health benefits. Our menu entrees were designed to have a balance of protein, fiber, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. We do not believe in changing our menu to adapt to restaurant trends. Some diets promote low carbs, others vegetarianism. We promote balance. Our menu allows you to remain vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, paleo or any preference you have. CHUTNEY will be a restaurant you can rely on for a meal that is nutritionally balanced yet bursting with flavors.

Our favorite cooking technique is roasting in the Tandoori Oven. We considered offering a variety of Indian curry dishes that you can find in many restaurants, but decided to focus mainly on Tandoori Cooking and do it with integrity. By offering a variety of chutneys we really wanted to encourage people to explore new flavors and have fun with it.

We believe that great food doesn't have to be complicated, you just have to cook your ingredients responsibly and with care. We use as many local fruits, vegetables, and nuts from the state of California as possible in our menu to reduce our carbon footprint. We try to use all parts of our ingredients to reduce food waste. Whenever possible we use environmentally friendly compostable packaging. Adhering to these principles might cost us more money, but we believe it is the right thing to do.
