Alternative Payment:
CDA’s Alternative Payment Program provides child care reimbursement for children in San Diego County, from birth through 12 years of age to the provider of the parent’s choice. This program allows eligible parents to choose the type of care they feel best meets the needs of their family. As a result, parents are able to work, look for work, or go to school. This program currently serves approximately 2,700 families and 5,000 children using over 1,600 different child care providers.
Child Development Centers (Preschools):
CDA operates three state subsidized, full-day preschool centers in South San Diego County. This preschool program provides a high-quality educational environment for children ages 3-5 to learn and grow while their parents become self-sufficient and ensures that they get the essential tools they need to be successful as they enter Kindergarten. Last year alone, our preschool centers served over 420 children.
Nutrition:
CDA is the largest sponsor of the Federal USDA Child Care Food Program in the State of California. This program reimburses child care providers for the nutritious meals they serve to the children in their care. In the last year, CDA trained and reimbursed approximately 1,260 family child care providers who served 6,393,820 meals to children, enabling them to grow up healthy and develop nutritious eating habits for life.
Quality Preschool Initiative:
The Quality Preschool Initiative (QPI) is a San Diego First Five program operated by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE). This program provides learning resources and teacher training in targeted communities to raise preschool program quality. All of CDA’s preschool centers participate in the QPI program.
Through our mission, vision, and values, we strive to make positive change in the lives of children, families and the community.
