The Cedar Area Fire / Rescue has been proudly serving our citizens since 1947 serving Solon, Kasson, Cleveland and Centerville Townships in Leelanau County. ABC Morning News declared the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore the most beautiful place in America and Cedar is proud to cover a portion of that beautiful lakeshore.A joint fire board governs the fire department along with the Fire Chief Dan Petroskey. CAFD is staffed with 23 members capable of firefighting, emergency medical services and other skills to serve our community. The staffing is a combination of professional full time and paid on call personnel serving 7 days, 24 hours a week. The department is a 24/7 transporting agency with a Basic Life Support license and contracts to North Flight out of Traverse City for Advanced Life Support when needed.
