The Center for Earth Ethics seeks to articulate and enact a moral response to the threat that climate change poses to the world — especially to vulnerable communities — and to the ecological destruction that causes climate change. Founded at Union Theological Seminary in 2015, CEE will engage religious traditions, spirituality and social ethics to form a framework for seeking eco-justice.
The Center for Earth Ethics has four goals:
1. Facilitating communication and practical partnerships between secular and faith-based environmental leaders;
2. Innovating in the field of eco-ministry;
3. Encouraging deeper engagement in ecological issues among religious communities and “spiritual but not religious” people;
4. Developing better indicators for individual and social well-being that short term economic growth (GDP).
