Charles Finney APUSH 2016

I am Charles Grandison Finney and I was an American revival preacher who was born in Warren, Connecticut, on August 29, 1792. He died in Oberlin, Ohio, on August 16, 1875. My hometown was in Oneida County, New York, where I was educated in rural schools throughout my childhood. I then, attended a private academy in Connecticut, studied law, and trained to become an attorney. Later on, I studied in the Presbyterian ministry under a local pastor where I was ordained in 1824. After I got my education, I taught theology at Oberlin College. At the same time, I served as a pastor at the Congregational Church in Oberlin until the year 1872. I was the President of Oberlin College for a few years as well. I had copious amounts of children with my wife, Lydia Root, whom I married in 1824. My children were named Helen Clarissa, Charles Grandison junior, Frederick Norton, Julia Rice, Sarah, and Delia. Helen was born 1828; Charles was born in 1830; Frederick was born in 1832; Julia Rice was born in 1837. Unfortunately, my two young daughters, Sarah and Delia, died in their early childhoods.
