Chattanooga Choo Choo

Born in 1909. Saved in 1972. Transformed in 2016.

Originally opened in 1909, the Terminal Station served as Chattanooga’s largest train station until it closed with the American railroad decline in 1970. The station was saved from demolition and opened as the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel complex just two years later in 1972. The building is a Beaux-Arts award winning design that features a 90-foot high ceiling and is one of the largest freestanding brick arches in the world. It held 12 tracks with 7 platforms.

In the Summer of 2014 the Chattanooga Choo Choo announced an ambitious and large-scale redevelopment of the entire property. This redevelopment project hits on every aspect; new and vibrant restaurants and bars, totally updated and refreshed hotel rooms, new and exciting music and entertainment venues, an on-site apartment conversion and a project with the City, local foundations and Southside neighbors to create the ultimate entertainment district for the region, Station Street.
