The Police Department is divided into Administrative, Investigative, and Patrol divisions. The Administrative Division consists of Lieutenant Jason Steadman, Receptionist/Clerk Lindsey Wilbanks and Court Clerk Jan Bridges. Lieutenant Steadman also serves as the Departmental Training Coordinator, Evidence and Property Custodian, and Internal Affairs Investigator.

Investigations - The Investigative Division is commanded by Captain Stacey Meeks and consists of Detective Sergeant Billy Mullis, Detective Sergeant Wesley Steele and Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force Agent, Detective Corporal Pat Doyle. School Resource Officer, Robert Dunn is assigned to Lafayette High School. Officer Dunn conducts crime prevention seminars when school is not in session.

Patrol - The Patrol Division is commanded by Lieutenant John Scoggins and Lieutenant Tom Kendrick. Serving as shift commanders are Sergeant Darin Kelley, Sergeant Robert Tate, Sergeant Jennifer Jones, and Sergeant Stacy Blalock.

Corporal Nick Terry, Corporal Heath Owens, Corporal Chris Reynolds, Corporal Dusty Clift, Officer Brock Campbell, Officer Ryan Wilson, and Dustin Coker are responsible for enforcing all federal and state laws as well as local ordinances. The Patrol Division has 14 fully-equipped, marked patrol units with all emergency equipment, including in-car video systems and dual antenna radar units. Sergeant Tate, Corporal Blalock, Corporal Reynolds, and Officer Terry are also cross trained as firefighters and assist with the fire department.
