City of Sidney Nebraska - Local Government

The City of Sidney is dedicated to creating a strong economic foundation for the community to improve the quality of life for its citizens and the business community.

Sidney has a Council/City Manager form of government. Five people serve on the City Council elected at large. Every two years the council chooses its chairman, which serves as the City’s Mayor. The City Council meets at 7:15 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in City Hall.

The city provides an all inclusive electrical, water, sewer, waste recycling, power plant, fire, golf, transportation bus, inspection, zoning and planning, parks, cemetery, swimming pool, police, airport, street, library, waste water treatment and various other services.
