Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County's David's Promise

David's Promise is a ministry of Compassionate Ministries if Jackson County. We believe that people with Special Needs are made in the image of Christ and therefore it is our duty to enable them to be what God wants them to be. So many individuals with special needs grow up and lose their social circle, their therapy services and their opportunities to grow as individuals. We want to be the catalyst for them to grow as people, to contribute to their community and to know Christ in a personal and intimate way.

Phase I of David's Promise consists of the opening of a weekday ministry where adults with special needs can come during the week to make friends, learn life skills and contribute to their community as they are integrated in the general population of Jackson County. Integration will occur through ministering alongside other members of the church in various roles, such as volunteering at the food pantry, the clothing ministry, the promise community garden and more.

Phase II will involve opening Promise Homes around Jackson where people with and without special needs choose to live in community with one another, share life and grow in their relationship with God.

Phase III will be the building and founding of an organic farming community where adults with multiple disabilities can live, work and be part of a community where their abilities shine. Utilizing the same housing model as in phase II, individuals with and without special needs will have the opportunity to live and work together, creating community in an integrated setting.

We believe that as the body of Christ, no member of that body should have to worry about what will happen to their children once they are gone. We hope to soon be able to make that fear disappear for many families. Please be praying as we grow our ministry and as we see where God takes it!
