Philosophy:
As the body develops stamina, coordination and strength, the mind and spirit receive the benefits of the self confidence and concentration. While rooted in tradition, Cuong Nhu is an evolving style that offers guidelines for training and provides direction which can be applied to all aspects of life.

Cuong Nhu Founder, Grandmaster Ngo Dong, (1937-2000) began martial arts training as a boy. Through the years he combined the best of the styles he practiced. Sensei Dong blended the principles and technique of both the hard and soft disciplines, creating Cuong Nhu. Grandmaster Dong founded Cuong Nhu in 1965 in Vietnam, and brought the style to the United States in 1971. His ideals continue in the styles development from Gainesville, FL where he was a Ph.D. at the University of Florida. Today the Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Arts Association is an international nonprofit organization with thousands of students. As a martial arts style, it is much more than a form of fighting; it is a way to search for a better way of life through personal development. Since its inception in 1971, Cuong Nhu has grown to establish dojos in 37 states and 5 countries.
