More about Delaware Store

The store is the creation of Jan Crumpley, selling items from postcards to her original works of art. Available in this shop; apparel, artwork prints, snacks for tourists, crockery, calendars, kitchen ware, license plates, greeting cards, coloring books and gift baskets. All these will have a Delaware theme and will be made either locally or in the USA.

Thomas Smith, the retired owner of Delaware Made, is the Gallery Manager.

There are brochures for places of interest nearby and expert directions to historic Downtown Dover. We have free maps showing landmarks, historic sites, eateries, shopping and art venues. Also, stories about the history & character of specific buildings on the Green. We are friends with the First State Heritage Park.

Jan is a musician and there will be live music, possibly every day, but connection to Dover's vibrant live music scene will be showcased for events and art shows for the three artists.

We are open every day PLUS we will be there for the FSHP Lantern Tours and the City of Dover's Concerts on the Green series. Also, available by chance or appointment.

About our galleries and building: Parke Green Galleries https://www.facebook.com/parkegreengalleries (N. Taylor Collins, Jan Crumpley & Susan S. Johnston) on the corner of South State Street & Dover’s historic Green. This historical building (the Parke Building), formerly the Sign of the Golden Fleece Tavern (1742 as an Inn & tavern, was named the Golden Fleece in 1749-1829) & then the Capitol Hotel (1831-1926).

Most notably, when it was the Golden Fleece Tavern, it was used by the state legislature as meeting hall from 1777-1791 until the State House was finished being built, just 3 buildings down on the Green.

In 1787, inside the Golden Fleece, Delaware became the FIRST STATE to ratify the Constitution and in 1790, Delaware became the 5th state to ratify the Bill of Rights.
