The Dickson County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is designed with one goal in mind - efficient and rapid recovery response. We maintain easily accessed and strategically placed equipment that is ready for the deployment within minutes of an emergency / recovery.
However, having immediate access to the right equipment is only part of our success. We also maintain comprehensive quality control programs that ensure all equipment performs at maximum capacity under extreme conditions. The Dickson County Underwater Search and Recovery Team, commonly referred to as the Dive Team, is responsible for responding to criminal related incidents involving bodies of water, Search of lost items, Accidental incidents, Environmental, Inspection of areas, archeology, and other dive service. The team is first and foremost utilized in its recovery capacity, which includes locating evidentiary items, removing the items, maintaining the evidence's integrity, and documentation for testimonial purposes.
The Dive Team members provide public education on water safety and education about the team to groups across the State of Tennessee. This allows the citizens to understand the abilities and operations of the team, the importance of water safety, along with being introduced to the Dive Team's protocols and equipment. The team staffs a number of specialist diver members including, Master Underwater Criminal Investigators, Underwater Crime Scene and Forensic Specialist, Swiftwater, Technical Rope Rescue, Cave/Cavern Rescue, and Commercial Divers.
The Dickson County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is highly trained and Specializes in Vehicle/Marine/Aircraft Recovery, Body / Badly decomposed body recovery, Evidence Recovery, Boating accident reconstruction, Marine Fire/Arson/Explosion investigation, Environmental Inspection, and other dive services.
The Dickson County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is a private company, funded by the divers and sponsors of the team including businesses locally owned. The Dickson County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit can be requested by any local, state, or government official throughout Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, or Northern Alabama for Dive Services, however if it involves evidence / crime scene cases, the authority having jurisdiction or investigator must request the Unit.
