Why was Diversity IT Network created?
-- We provide a safe environment where IT professionals of all backgrounds can discuss barriers to career advancement within the IT industry and how to overcome them.
-- We create an educational platform where a technologist’ analytical thinking is complimented with the soft skills necessary to climb the corporate ladder.
-- Created by IT for IT. Each career path has its own nuances. We understand that and ensure our workshops reflect what makes you, the technology professional, unique.
-- We need Diversity in IT, including more women and multicultural individuals.
Launched in 2014, Diversity IT Network is the brainchild of Reinier Moquete, CEO of Advoqt Technology Group, an IT consulting firm based in Cambridge MA. With over 14 years of industry experience, Reinier has serviced the IT needs of the most recognized brands in New England. Reinier moved to Boston in 1999 with no family, no education, and no money. After six years of full-time schooling, all while maintaining a 60+ hour workweek, he earned an A.A. and A.S. (Business & Finance, respectively), both from Bunker Hill Community College, as well as a B.S. in Telecommunications from Pace University. Making it out of a tough situation and turning his life around, made him want to help others do the same, so Reinier co-founded Latino STEM Alliance, a 503(c)3 non-profit that teaches kids how to build robots. Reinier also serves in a number of other committees/boards and always makes time to meet with rising professionals and provide guidance on how to excel in the technology industry. “Lift as you Climb!“
