Dolomite Pentecostal

Dolomite Mission C.O.G.I.C. (as it was originally named) was founded in 1983 by the late Elder Alex Zinnerman Sr. and Missionary Eva Zinnerman. For eight years, the old Dolomite Post Office was where services were held. However, they had bigger dreams and God blessed them with a larger church.

In 1991, 3578 Charles Street became Dolomite Mission’s new place of worship. Under Elder Zinnerman Sr.’s leadership, the members renovated many areas of the church. This included the remodeling and extension of the pulpit, relocating the restrooms, adding a pastor study, choir stand, fellowship hall, and finance office. In 2006 the Lord blessed Dolomite Mission C.O.G.I.C. with a church van.

Elder Zinnerman had compassion for all people. The Lord blessed him with the knowledge and wisdom to sow many seeds into other Elders, Ministers, and Lay Members lives. Elder Zinnerman Sr’s primary focus was on saving souls. For more than 27 years the faithful members of Dolomite Mission C.O.G.I.C. were blessed to be under the leadership of a highly respected and greatly devoted man of God. Even during his illness, he continued to show constant compassion and God given love to everyone he met. The lord called his faithful servant home on June 30, 2010. We will always carry his precious memory in our hearts.

In 2011, the Lord blessed us with a new Pastor, Elder John W. Smith. Elder Smith and the members of the church changed the name to Dolomite Pentecostal. Elder Smith has been a motivating and rejuvenating leader in the church and has continued the vision Elder Zinnerman Sr. began 1983.

Under the leadership of Pastor Smith, several improvements have been made to the church. Most recently, we’ve added an office for the Asst. Pastor, Elder Alex Zinnerman Jr. and a storage room. Pastor Smith appointed Elder Alex Zinnerman Jr as the Asst. Pastor and ordained Deacon Robert Hubbard Jr. on November 15, 2015. We’ve also started two great programs since he’s been our Shepard, “Feed the Community” and “Women Helping Other Women (WHOW). In remembrance of Elder Alex Zinnerman Sr’s vision and legacy, Elder Smith started an annual Founder’s Day to honor the late Elder Alex Zinnerman Sr. and Mother Eva Zinnerman.

Our Pastor married the beautiful Betty Gurley Smith on November 27, 2015, and we proudly call her our 1st Lady! Elder Smith recently received his Doctor of Divinity Degree. We love our Church, Founder, Pastor and 1st Lady. We vow to do all the good we can, while we can!
