ABOUT DOUG FRATES

Doug Frates is the Studio Director of Doug Frates Glass. Doug is a former active duty Marine and one of the top art glass makers in the world. He began his glass blowing career under Fritz Dreisbach, who along with Dale Chihuly founded the American Art Studio Glass Movement. Frates studied and apprenticed at the Sonoran Glass Art Academy, AZ, working for important glass artist Tom Philabaum where he produced the designer’s signature paperweights. Frates began his own studio in 2005 and has won numerous awards for his glass design and production.
