Douglas J. Knight Orthodontics offers high quality orthodontic care for kids, teens, and adults in and around Tacoma, WA. We have two expert orthodontists, Dr. Knight and Dr. Roberts, who are proud to provide professional, friendly service to every patient.

Dr. Douglas J. Knight grew up in Auburn, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University; graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was also an Academic All-American swimmer. Dr. Knight graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1990, where he ranked second in his class. He was in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society all four years. Dr. Knight completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in La Jolla, California and then returned to the northwest to practice as a restorative dentist for two years before returning to the University of Washington to achieve his Master’s Degree from the Department of Orthodontics in 1995.

Since then, Dr. Knight has maintained a private orthodontic practice here in Tacoma, Washington. He is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Knight is also a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the northwest component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Soleil Roberts is a Board Certified orthodontist with advanced training in Cleft and Craniofacial Orthodontics. She received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Environmental Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and then graduated with a D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Soleil completed her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington, and received a Master’s Degree in Dentistry. She then completed an 18-month Fellowship in Craniofacial Orthodontics at Seattle Children’s Hospital, focusing on orthodontic and surgical management of children with cleft lip and palate, and craniofacial anomalies.

Soleil is an Affiliate Faculty member at the University of Washington Department of Orthodontics, where she teaches orthodontic management of cleft lip/palate and pediatric obstructive sleep apnea. Soleil has been awarded multiple honors for her research and has had the opportunity to lecture nationally and internationally on orthodontic, craniofacial and dental sleep medicine topics.
