Dovetails of Oxford

Welcome to Dovetails of Oxford. I’ve been “making stuff” and “fixing stuff” all my life. Most of my creations have been for my own home or for friends and family, so Dovetails represents a bit of a departure for me as I’m now open to the public. I love working with wood. I do my best to put the pieces together with skill and care - artistry even, but it’s the wood that makes a piece truly beautiful. I especially like to work with salvaged or reclaimed lumber. Sometimes there’s a lot of extra work in turning crooked, old, nail-ridden boards into furniture, but it is worth the effort. Of course salvaged lumber is the most eco-friendly lumber to use because it’s already been used once before however, even when I use wood that isn’t reclaimed from an old structure I will never use wood that is improperly harvested. I try to stay away from most tropical hardwoods unless I am certain of their origins. There are plenty of beautiful domestic woods here in North America.
