Workshop Site: East Texas Baptist University, Marshall Texas. Marshall is a city of 24,000 located 30 minutes from the Shreveport (SHV) Regional Airport or the Gregg County (GGG) Regional Airport. Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL) are 2 and 2.5 hours from Marshall, respectively. Van transfers from either airport and to and from your hotel to the workshop site each day can be arranged, or you may rent a car.
East Texas Baptist University is a private university serving over 1,300 students. The School of Fine Arts houses the Department of Music, offering the Bachelor of Music in Music Education, the BM in Vocal and Piano Performance, and the Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Music. The Jenna Guest Music Building (JGMB) and the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center (OSLC) offer excellent facilities for rehearsal and performance. Workshop orchestra rehearsals will be held in a large rehearsal hall, two piano sessions will be held in the Mabee Recital Hall (168 seats) the dress rehearsal and concert will be held in Baker Auditorium (1,400 seats). Other office and classroom facilities are available for class sessions and video review.

Housing: A variety of comfortable and affordable national chain hotels, Bed and Breakfast accomodations in beautiful Victorian homes and college dormitory rooms are available.

Meals: Marshall has a number of excellent family-owned restaurants, including Mexican, Salvadoran, Italian, Japanese, Cajun, Bar-B-Que and Country Cooking cuisine, in addition to several national restaurants and fast-food chains. Vegetarian and Vegan selections are available.

Orchestra: The Persimmon Hill Chamber Orchestra comprises 20 players from the local area, all of whom perform in the Shreveport, Longview, Marshall, Texarkana, East Texas and South Arkansas Symphony Orchestras. The pianists for the 2 piano sessions are faculty at local universities.

Repertoire: Arensky: Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky, Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48, Glazunov: Saxophone Concerto in Eb Major, Sibelius: Romanze in C and Impromptu for Strings.
Workshop Tuition: $975 for conducting fellows, $400 for Associates. Conducting Fellows receive 80 minutes of podium time with string orchestra and 48 minutes with two pianos. Each Conducting Fellow will conduct the orchestra in a movement or short piece on the final concert. Associates participate in all classroom activities and receive 48 minutes conducting time with 2 pianos, but do not conduct the orchestra. All piano and orchestra sessions will be professionally videotaped. There will be a maximum of 8 Conducting Fellows and 4 Associates selected.
