Ebbing Air National Guard Base

Fort Smith Air National Guard Station is the home base of the Arkansas Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing.OverviewThe 188th Fighter Wing (FW) of the Arkansas Air National Guard occupies 110 acres of leased land on the Fort Smith Regional Airport, located approximately 2 miles southeast of Fort Smith, Arkansas. The mission of the 188th FW is to execute directed fighter missions designed to destroy enemy forces, supplies, equipment, communications systems, and installations with all types of tactical weapons. The unit currently flies the A-10 Thunderbolt II.The 188 FW occupies 3 administrative, 46 industrial, and 3 services buildings at FSM totaling approximately 332102sqft with 320 full-time personnel, primarily Air Force Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) and Air Reserve Technician (ART) personnel. Approximately 700 additional traditional part-time Air National Guard personnel are also assigned to the 188 FW. BRAC 2005 recommended that the 188th Fighter Wing send its F-16 Falcon fighters to the 144th Fighter Wing (ANG), Fresno Air Terminal Air Guard Station, California. In return it received 18 A-10 aircraft.
