Cosmetology is a one-year technical trade program which consists of 1,200 contact hours. The cosmetic industry has a continuous need for well-trained cosmetologists and Eastern Florida State College fulfills this need.
Jobs in the industry include those in customer care, and also in merchandising, scientific, and editorial fields. Cosmetologists work in salons, spas, medical and educational facilities, photography, movie, and magazine production.
Courses in fundamental skills, theory, techniques, sales, public relations and salon management prepare students to take the State Board Licensure Examination. EFSC cosmetology students have a pass rate of approximately 95%. Salon facilities at EFSC allow students to practice their skills prior to entering the profession.
