More about Elect Michael McClellan for Little Elm Town Council

To my friends, family, and the residents of Little Elm, I am running for Town Council, Place 1, the position I have held for the past 3 years.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you in the role of councilman for the Little Elm Town Council, Place 1, and I hope you will allow me to represent you for a second term. Serving in this way has been one of the most rewarding achievements of my life, and one that brings a great deal of joy, personal pride, and continues the example of servant leadership that I learned from my parents and hope to pass down to my children.

My family and I moved to Little Elm in 1970 and have seen a lot of changes over the years. I Graduated from LEHS 1979 with 19 classmates. My wife, Lisa, of 20 years is an Art Teacher at Powell, 6th Grade Campus. We have two sons, Mitchell, a Freshman at Texas Tech, and Sean a Junior at LEHS, plus our dog, Rusty, and we enjoy staying active as a family.

I am dedicated to protecting the small town feel and community of Little Elm, and promise to manage its growth responsibly.

Servant Leadership and being active in the community came naturally to me, and I followed in the family footsteps. My Dad, Jesse McClellan, was past School Board President when the first High School was constructed, helped assemble the original Log Cabin in Beard Park, High School Library is dedicated to him, and my Mom, Audrey, also a past School Board President, Library Board, Planning & Zoning Commission, Charter Committee, Election Judge, and Active Senior Volunteer.

I began my public service as a member of the Park Board approximately 1995 for almost 4 years before moving to the Planning and Zoning Commission for the Town of Little Elm where I served for18+ years, and now a member of the Town Council. I also serve as the Charter Organization Representative for Button Memorial United Methodist Church supporting Pack 367 and Troop 45, past Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 45, past Church Council Chairman of Button Memorial United Methodist Church, Library Design Advisory Committee, member of the Economic Development Corporation Board for the Town of Little Elm, and Comprehensive Planning committee 2008 and 2017 to name a few of the things I am involved in here in Little Elm.

I have had the honor to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the last year.

I proudly served on the Town of Little Elm Planning and Zoning Commission for 18 plus years. During my tenure, Little Elm changed significantly from a very small Town to the growing and great place it is today.

- Eliminated lowest residential district that allowed asphalt streets in order to ensure developers put in concrete streets and curbs in new developments.
- Sunset Point PD that required homes of 2600 square feet (min) in 25% of the development area.
-Changed apartment standards to an extremely high standard in order to ensure only the absolute best quality builders could meet standards, and thus ensure no substandard apartment complexes.
-Developed Architectural Standards.
-Developed Development Standards
-Instituted a Lighting Ordinance, modeled after Dark Sky Ordinance, in order to maintain small town aspects as much as possible.
-Worked on the Town Center Zoning District, and protection of the area for future Town Center Development, now known as The Lakefront.
-Increased Little Elm's boundary along Lake Lewisville.
-Elimination of Heavy Industrial Zoning districts in order to protect large tracts of land near residential developments and potential commercial developments.
-Lowes PD as the first large commercial development at a key intersection and future gateway to Little Elm.
-Encouraged Town staff to proactively make mandatory for any property developed on FM 720 (now El Dorado) dedication of right of way to ease the future expansion to 6 lanes, saving substantial tax dollars.

I am a member of the Economic Development Committee, and am tasked with attracting new businesses to the Town of Little Elm: Hula Hut, Phase 2, Sunset Storage, First Choice ER, Fossil Creek Liquor, Holt CAT,T-Mobile, Meineke, Icebox (Stripes Fueling Station),Hollywood Feed, Towers Taphouse, Starbucks@ 2170 FM 423,Elite Chiropractic, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Little Caesar’s, Pet Supermarket, La Azteca Meat Market, Smoothie Bar, Farm, Fast Lane Express Car Wash, Outlaw Bootcamp, Wash Zone, Anytime Fitness, Donut Box, Jack in the Box, Margarita Hut, Wing Daddy’s, Little Elm Crafthouse, Farrell’s Xtreme Bodyshaping,The Draft House, Recycle 2 Support, Precision Family Dental, Los Mangos, Smoothie King, All Lube Center & Auto Repair, It’s A Burger, Cadillac Art & Frame, Arby’s, Schlotzsky’s, Pollo Regio, Maya Restaurant, Domino’s Pizza @ 1000 E.
