Enchanted Rock State Natural Area consists of 1643.5 acres on Big Sandy Creek, north of Fredericksburg, on the border between Gillespie and Llano Counties. Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite exfoliation dome rising 425 feet above ground, peaking at 1825 feet above sea level, and covering 640 acres. It is one of the largest batholiths (underground rock formation uncovered by erosion) in the United States.

Enchanted Rock is an extremely busy park, especially on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors are encouraged to arrive before 9:30 am for the best chance at gaining entrance to the park before it fills up to capacity. It is also encouraged to visit the park on a weekday if at all possible.
