Flats Lounge

Flats Lounge was built in 1953. It's an unique bar, concrete floors and a concrete bar from top to bottom. It was built by Mr. Gates,son-in-law of Shorty (daughter, Ms. Rose) Place. It has not moved since it was built. It was originally called the "Rod and Gun". It was a favorite for a lot of local men. Alot of good history happened in this bar. If you're in sometime, ask bartender if they know and if not...well tell them you want to talk to Lynda, if not there at 10 pm, I probably won't show!!!The bar was redone in 1999 and is, well was the only concrete bar, until recently. When I purchased the bar in 2006, I was bartending there. It's a little dark, and it's always a Cold Oasis, after a long hot summer day, fishing, sunning, or just walking. It is one of the greatest bars on Island. We try to make everybody feel at home and comfortable...and our drinks rock and our beer is on ice and very cold!!!
