The Florala Fire Department is a fully volunteer fire department located in the city of Florala in Covington County located in south central Alabama. We have 26 dedicated members who provide the citizens of Florala and southeastern Covington County with fire suppression, vehicle extrication, gas spills/leaks, landing zones, roadway obstructions, and other fire or EMS related emergencies. Our fire district is approximately 81 square miles and mainly rural with no fire hydrants. We currently run 2 class A engines: Engine 2-1988 Ford/FMC with a 1000 gallon poly tank and a 1250 GPM Hale pump and numerous firefighting equipment and Engine 5-2010 Crimson/International 7400 four door with a rescue body, a 1000 gallon poly tank, a 1500 GPM Waterous pump, and numerous firefighting equipment as well as Hurst/Lukas extrication equipment; a brush truck: Brush 6-1999 Chevrolet 3500 four door with a skid unit and wildland firefighting equipment; and a utility car: Car 1-2004 Chevrolet Impala. We average 125-150 calls for service per year. Our current ISO (Insurance Services Office) score is a 4/4X.
