More about Freedom Hall Recovery Center

New Beginnings Outreach Ministries of Southern Ohio is a non-profit corporation providing inpatient resident rehabilitation treatment for those suffering from drug/alcohol dependency. Our resident facility can house 31 males and 8 females. Our facility accommodates both male and female residents, housed in separate quarters, and does not discriminate applicants based on race, religious preference, sexual orientation, ethnic background, or financial standing.

Since the inception of this program, in July of 2004, we have been a faith-based organization operated entirely on donations from people with a burden for recovering addicts. These donations come from people who hear about us by word-of-mouth as well as a monthly mailing list built by friends of the ministry. At this point, we have to raise at least $350.00 per resident, per month, in order to keep operating.

The majority of our residents are native to the Appalachian Region of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky, though we have received residents from Florida, New York, Colorado and Alabama as well. Our records indicate that 60% of our residents are in homeless situations when they enter our program. We receive some who are transitioning from incarceration back into society and are seeking a strong recovery foundation from which to do so. All residents are here voluntarily however, we only accept individuals seriously seeking help. We do accept residents with special needs, such as hearing impaired, amputees, some with conditions such as ADHD, and diseases such as diabetes and hepatitis B and C. These needs are addressed on an individual basis during the initial assessment, to see if we can safely accommodate the point of need for each applicant and do it safely for the other residents as well.

We will conduct an initial assessment with each applicant, to determine if the care we offer is appropriate for his or her individual recovery needs. All treatment is well documented and confidentiality is maintained on all personal records. All agreements concerning the individual’s treatment program or conditions for residency signed during the assessment are, upon acceptance into the program, strictly adhered to by ourselves, and compliance is required of the resident as well for continuation in the program. Residents can leave the program voluntarily, or be asked to leave for non-compliance, at any time.

Our treatment program is based on faith in Jesus Christ, and centers on Christian teachings from the Bible as well as cognitive behavior methods of understanding addiction and recovery. Each resident advances through each of our five program phases at their own pace, there is no time limit (as in 30 days, 90 days, etc.), the final phase of which is a transitional stage allowing the resident to gradually progress back into society. This program is a nine to twelve month process for most individuals. Our goal is wholeness that turns the individual’s lifestyle from one controlled by an addiction and includes all the suffering and negative repercussions associated with that, to a lifestyle of meaningful purpose, productivity, and service (to others and to themselves). In addition to their personal care and hygiene, residents are asked to complete daily job tasks, 12 Step bookwork as well as Biblical Devotion bookwork, attend regular church services and participate in community service. They receive counseling to help with damaged relationships (friends, family, spouses), to learn better communication and inter-human relation skills. We also provide individualized spiritual and biblical counseling from ordained licensed ministers, as well as study groups with qualified volunteers from various walks of life. They learn about financial responsibility, goal setting, and also have the opportunity for vocational growth; to acquire a GED, attend college, or we can often help them get into trade apprenticeship programs. Besides our faith based group and individual counseling, each resident also receives individual and group counseling from state licensed Addiction Counselors through the Pike County Recovery Center. We do provide transportation to counseling sessions, physician visits, church meetings, and court/probation appointments as necessary. Residents live in a home-style environment, providing room, board and three prepared meals a day.
