2010 Tierra Alta Syrah

2010 was a long cool vintage, producing fresh bright wines. This syrah strikes a balance of both fruit and spice. An ethereal bouquet of cardamom, dried cranberries and incense open to dusty peppered meats. Delicately textured mouth feel includes notes of ripe raspberries, strawberries, tart blackberries, spiced plums and olive tampenade. The finish is focused with structured acidity. A very approachable, medium bodied syrah with elegant flavors and a lively mouth feel offers itself as a lovely food companion. Open now with a few hours of decanting, through 2020.

2011 Central Coast GSM

Inspired by the bold complexity of Chateauneuf du Pape blends, the 2011 GSM is a deep fruit forward wine. The blend is 60% Camp 4 Grenache, 20% Colson Canyon Syrah and 20% Rancho de Cielo (West Paso Robles) Mourvedre. As the base of the wine, the Grenache creates a round blanketing texture that expresses a candied cinnamon nose and flavors of ripe red fruit with crushed minerals. The Colson Canyon Syrah brings additional velvety texture, layered with blackberries, cassis, licorice and chocolate. Finally the Rancho de Cielo Mourvedre holds the backbone of the wine. The Mourvedre's acidic tension and tannic structure builds a subtle sca"olding which provides great age ability. Enjoy this wine now with a few hours of decanting through 2020.

2011 Camp 4 Grenache

This vineyard designate grenache is beautiful. Grown under the Santa Ynez Valley sun only a couple miles from the home Zac and Almond grew up in, it is both voluptuous in fruit and refined in earth. Up front, a distinct iron minerality on the nose introduces a round textured palate of radiant ripe raspberries, strawberries and cranberries that are grounded by notes of crushed rocks and smoked meats. After a few hours of decanting, more fanciful characteristics of cinnamon candy and boiled red beets are discovered. A toned yet soft texture makes this wine easy drinking and great for a dinner party. Enjoy now with a few hours of decanting through 2020.
