One of the first questions a consumer tends to ask to a lender when seeking a mortgage is “What is your interest rate?” Well, the mortgage business is an extremely competitive one where most companies are lending through the same platform, and will generally offer very similar rates. So the real question that should be asked is “What is your level of experience, and how will you make the loan process a smooth, easy, and transparent one?”
If you were to pick up the phone and call one of those “Big Box” mortgage lenders, you have no idea who you are dealing with on the other end of the phone. There is a very good chance that you will be working with a loan officer that has minimal experience, and does not have the necessary knowledge to properly guide you through the loan process. Many of these companies hire warm bodies with some sales experience to answer the phone.
