Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool - Bel Air, MD

Our preschool program, based on a child-centered philosophy, includes pre-writing and pre-reading skills, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and Christian education. We believe that children learn through play and have incorporated this into our teaching through the use of outcome based learning centers.Our curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate goals for each age group. Children are given the opportunity to work with materials that promote exploration and creativity. Through this practice they develop communication skills, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking capabilities, which help to foster the independence necessary for success in kindergarten. Field trips help to enrich and expand the units taught in the classroom. Christian faith is taught through Bible stories, prayers, songs, and monthly chapel sessions.

The classroom environment is inviting, secure, and rich in opportunities for children to express their creativity. Children are taught in a Christian atmosphere which encourages respect for one another, fair play, and friendship.
