Gosoku-Kai Karate Academy is a Karate school that teaches the art of Gosoku-Ryu and Shito-Ryu. Gosoku-Ryu is the primary teaching style of the Internation Karate Association (IKA). Both the style and the IKA were created by Soke Takayuki Kubota. You will find roots of Naha-Te and Shuri-Te styles in Gosoku-Ryu. Many will find Gosoku-Ryu practitioners performing Shotokan Kata (forms), although the Gosoku style itself has its own set of forms.
Our main instructors learned Shito-Ryu prior to learning Gosoku-Ryu. Shito-Ryu also has similar roots to Gosoku-Ryu, having influences from Naha-Te, Shuri-Te as well as Tomari-Te styles. You will find a majority of both Shotokan and Goju-Ryu Katas in this system.
Having both styles taught in this academy is what makes training so unique. Although many compare styles of Karate or Martial Arts, our Soke teaches us that with much time and practice, you will find more similarities than you would differences with other styles.
