Sibshops, a program created in 1990 to help meet the needs of siblings of children with special health and developmental needs, is now in Green!
Being a typically-developing sibling in such a home can be challenging, due to demands on time and energy, and life can be chaotic at times. Sibshops are designed to be a safe, fun, and special place for these kids, where they will find peer support and education that is recreational, with an emphasis on fun.
Our Green Sibshop is a community outreach of Greensburg United Methodist Church. The program will be offered on Saturday, August 13th, September 10th, October 15th and November 12th. Each Sibshop will be a three-hour session from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, with lunch included. There is no charge. It is offered to children currently in 3rd through 6th grade.
The format will vary, but will include opportunities to:
• Meet other brothers and sisters of children with special needs
• Have fun
• Talk with others who “get it” about the good (and sometimes not so good!) parts of having a sib with special needs
• Have some more fun! Plans are in place with trained facilitators and volunteers who have all been back-ground checked. If you are interested or know someone who this program might be beneficial to, please call the church office at 330-896-1936, tell them you are interested in the Sibshops program.
If it is after hours, please leave a voicemail with your name, phone number and a good time to reach you, and someone will return your call as soon as possible. Registration is required, so please call as soon as possible.
A Sibshop enriches the lives of all who are connected to it. Please consider this unique opportunity for your child and your family.
