Hardin is a home rule-class city in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. A community grew up around the depot, erected on land purchased from local landowner Hardin D. Irvan. The population density was 954.8 people per square mile (369.1/km²). There were 282 housing units at an average density of 477.4 per square mile (184.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.29% White, 0.53% Native American, and 0.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.35% of the population.There were 257 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.4% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% were non-families. 35.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.81.
