Hidden Pines/Luecke Farm Fire Bastrop County Texas

On October 13, 2015 we had a devastating view from the office of Robert Kizer Law, located at Hwy 21 and 1441. Shortly before noon, Debbie Moore saw smoke outside the office window and close by. Carlena Miller quickly called 911 to report a fire in the in the median in front of the office building. The Circle D Volunteer Fire Department arrived within minutes and soon had the fire under control. It caused our office to pause and reflect on the fire that ignited on September 4, 2011 and devastated the surrounding landscape. We are incredibly lucky to have an experienced fire department nearby that arrived so quickly. It could easily have gotten out of control. We didn’t yet know what was to come.
Not long after the fire department left the scene, we saw smoke on the horizon toward the south, southeast. But this time we weren't as lucky as we had been one hour earlier. The fire immediately began to grow out of control and the plumes of white then black smoke grew larger and larger. We knew at that point we were headed for yet another disaster in Bastrop County.
Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the Hidden Pines/Luecke Farms Fire. We also know from past experience that the pain of loss will take months and sometimes years to ease.
