High Glen Gardens is a young, 64-acre private estate at the base of the Catoctin mountains in picturesque Frederick, MD. There are approximately 10 acres of impressive formal gardens arranged into garden rooms, including a large perennial border, rose garden, woodland birch grove, koi pond, greenhouse, Japanese garden, Mediterranean garden and English cottage garden. In addition, there are extensive annual plantings, open fields, as well as newly-restored natural areas that include a wetland and upland meadow.
In 2013, High Glen Gardens embarked on the exciting process of evolving into a public garden, developing a new master plan with the goal of opening the gardens to a wider audience. Currently we are developing many new gardens, including a grand allee of bur oaks, an earth sculpture of warm season grasses, and a woodland reforestation project.
While we are not open to the general public at this time, group tours are available and can be arranged by invitation. If your group is interested in a garden tour, please contact our office at the phone number or email listed above.
