Hillcrest Animal Rescue

Hillcrest Animal Rescue was informally started in 1999. The founders, Mark and Karan, bought a farm in Franklin County, Virginia to assist Mark’s parents. They moved to Franklin with their animals (mostly rescues).

While living in Franklin the number of animals continued to increase. Karan started working with the Franklin County Humane Society listing the adoptable animals on Petfinder. As her rescue continued to grow, it needed an official name so became Hillcrest, the name Mark’s dad had given their farm.

Mark’s job relocated their family and the rescue to Texas in the spring of 2002. Shortly after, Karan was fortunate to meet Dr. Meier at a clinic in McKinney. Dr. Meier treated every one of the Hillcrest ‘kids’ as family and understood this rescue was about doing everything needed for them.

Mark and Karan have dedicated their property to the rescue to help even more kids without a voice. Hillcrest is about having the kids in a home environment and making them part of a family until they find their forever home.
