In the state of Florida, the county Tax Collectors are the funding engine powering virtually all local governments.
The Hillsborough County Tax Collector is a constitutional officer whose office is responsible for the collection and distribution of property, tangible, and business taxes; processing of motor vehicle and vessel title transactions, renewing motor vehicle, vessel and mobile home registrations and issuing and renewing driver licenses.
Our office also distributes tourist development taxes and issues hunting and fishing licenses.
The Hillsborough County Tax Collector's office collects and distributes over $2 billion annually. The taxes distributed through our office provide revenue for many public entities including school boards, parks, roadways, and mass transit systems.
