History Day L.A. encourages students to prepare posters, exhibits, papers, web sites, performances, and documentary presentations on a historical theme. The following information is for teachers and educators who are interested in teaching history in the K-12 schools and having their students participate in History Day.
When: Saturday, March 25, 2017
Where: APU West Campus
Student projects are judged by community members and history-social science professionals. Winners from all categories are invited to compete at the state level; state winners proceed to compete at the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Participation in History Day L.A. provides opportunities for students to improve academic achievement and develop important 21st century skills in preparation for college, career and citizenship – critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, communication and creativity and innovation. As an authentic performance assessment measure, teachers can utilize History Day projects to easily assess the knowledge and skills of their students.

Azusa Pacific University hosts History Day L.A. and sponsors re-enactors and historical activities for the community and participants. Students who are waiting for the judging to be completed can enjoy a number of activities on campus.
