My Story

My Doula journey started in September of 2014 when I found myself pregnant with my fourth child. After talking to several people about my fears of having the same birthing experience as I had before someone mentioned to me that I should get a Doula, not knowing at the time what a Doula was I did some research and decided that was the answer to my problem. My first three births had not gone as I wished and were horrible traumatic experiences for me but, my Doula insured me that she would help me have the birth that I had always wanted. I then went on to have the most magical and beautiful homebirth all thanks to my Doula who was by my side every step of the way. I had such a great experience having a Doula at my birth that I decided I would become a Doula myself to help other women have the birth experience that they have always dreamed of.

What is a Doula?

Doulas are trained professionals who provide customized support, reassurance, and perspective for expectant women and families throughout the entire pregnancy and birth process. Your Doula accompanies you in labor for a more satisfying birth experience by providing: emotional support; physical comfort; and, as needed, communication with hospital staff to ensure you have the information needed to make decisions as they arise in labor. Your Doula can also make suggestions for ways to help your labor progress, with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. The whole family can benefit from professional labor support by having a neutral party assist in their desires for childbirth.

Your Doula works for you, not your caregiver or hospital. Many times moms don’t think they can afford a Doula but they can’t afford not to have a Doula. Many Doulas will work with payment plans and cost is often between $700 to $1500 dollars. Many of us have spent more on our computers, phones, eating out, and other luxuries in the last 4 months. Your birth experience is a once in a lifetime event. It is worth the investment to have a positive lifetime memory that you will cherish and have the best outcome
